The United States Code, also otherwise known as the U.S.C. and formally titled the Code of Laws of the United States of America, is the official codification of the general and permanent federal statutes of the United States.

Titles? What are they?

The Code is divided into Titles. Each one deals with a specific area of legislation. All titles have sections (represented by a ยง) as their basic coherent units, and sections are numbered sequentially across the entire title without regard to the previously-mentioned divisions of titles.

Who is responsible for legislative amendments to the U.S.C.?

The United States Congress is responsible for legislation pertaining to the Code. This may include the establishment of a new agency, define a new crime under federal law, instate a new tax, among other things.
